The Gods of Alnwich: Milä

Milä

of the Black of Night, the Beautiful, the Collector, the Love-Bringer

Milä is a ferocious lover and warrior goddess who presides over love and sex, serves as a minor fertility goddess, and governs the air and sky. She takes no husband and is renowned for her promiscuity among both gods and mortals, which usually happens under cover of night. Her personality is occasionally childish, but she is dependable in a clinch, especially where her leadership of the Kauya – a host of Amazonian warriors – is concerned. While she cries tears of gold, it is not wise to upset her.

Milä appears as a mind-numbingly beautiful maiden with flowing dark locks, large green eyes, and a fit physique. She regularly wears a golden breastplate and a cape of swan feathers and rarely appears without an escort of swans, doves, or cats – any of whom might be Kauya in disguise.

Morality

Milä tends to patronize individuals who share in and promote her love of partying – Compulsive Carousing – and lovemaking – Uncontrollable Appetite (Sex). While she might tend toward the whimsical side, she is steadfast and expects her clergy to follow suit; represent this with Code of Honor (Soldier’s). Since they are expected to have a multitude of sexual partners throughout their life, the Love-Bringer’s clerics do not marry; take Vow (Never Marry) [-5] to represent this. And like all gods, a host of ceremonies and rituals surround Milä’s worship. These are best modeled with Disciplines of Faith (Mysticism or Ritualism), the latter of which definitely applies to any romantic endeavors!

Divine Servitors

Divine servitors of Milä always have one of Air or Beauty, depending on whether they embody her airy demesne or her place as goddess of desire. More diverse servitors will include Darkness to represent the night during which Milä’s trysts usually take place, Good for her reliability and general beneficence, and Death or War for her ties to warfare and the collection of fallen soldiers via the Kauva.

Shrines

Milä is one of the few deities whose dedicated shrines are better called temples. There, the clergy worships the Love-Bringer through sexual congress. They use this to raise funds for their cult, which in turn, funds such large shrines. While these temples always have several private rooms for copulation, the great hall provides a place for congregations to witness the sexual offerings to the central statue of Milä the Beautiful by the priests and priestesses before joining in the offerings themselves.

The Black of Night does not keep such lascivious quarters in shared temples, however. There, she appears as a starkly beautiful statue adorned in flowers, incense, and swan feathers and crying flecks of golden tears.

Clerics of Sëra

Priests of Milä should generally be built using the Initiate template with the following modifications:

Advantages: Remove Channeling, Green Thumb, Licensed Exorcist, Medium, Outdoorsman, Spirit Badge, Spirit Empathy, Spirit Weapon from the list of optional advantages and add Appearance (Attractive, Handsome/Beautiful, or Very Handsome/Very Beautiful) [4, 12, or 16], Channeling (Accessibility, Only During Sex, -20%) [8], Classic Features [1], and Extreme Sexual Dimorphism [1].
Disadvantages: Add a required -10 points in any of the disadvantages listed under Morals, above and reduce the -30 points in disadvantages to -20.
Skills: Remove Hidden Lore (Elementals, Faeries, and Spirits), Naturalist, and Poisons from the list of optional primary skills and add Carousing (E) HT+1 [2]-12; Erotic Art (A) DX [2]-11; and Sex Appeal (A) HT [2]-11 to the list of optional primary skills. • Remove Veterinary and Weather Sense from the list of optional secondary skills and add Body Language (A) Per-1 [1]-12 and Hypnotism (H) IQ-2 [1]-11. • Add Whip (A) DX+2 [8]-13 to the list of melee weapon options. • Remove Blowpipe, Bolas, Net, and Thrown Weapon (Stick) from the ranged weapon options and add Thrown Weapon (Axe/Mace) (E) DX+1 [2]-12. • Remove Disguise (Animals), Fishing, Mimicry (Animal Sounds or Bird Calls), Navigation (Land), Survival (any), and Traps from the list of optional background skills and add Area Knowledge (Alnwich) (E) IQ [1]-13; Breath Control (H) HT-2 [1]-9; Current Affairs (Trollenmere) (E) IQ [1]-13; Mimicry (Speech) (H) IQ-2 [1]-11; and Urban Survival (A) Per-1 [1]-12.
Special Abilities and Spells: Choose the following 25-point package:

Cleric of Milä: Either Power Investiture 2 [20] or Divine Favor 5 [20]. • Choose [-10] points from disadvantages mentioned in Morality, above. • 15 points total in any combination of Power Investiture 3 [10], Divine Favor 6 or 7 [5 or 15], Learned Prayers, or clerical spells.

Holy Warriors of Sëra

Holy warriors of Milä are usually built using the Archer template with the following modifications:

Advantages: Add Appearance (Attractive, Handsome/Beautiful, or Very Handsome/Very Beautiful) [4, 12, or 16], Classic Features [1], Divine Favor 4, 5, or 6 [10, 15, or 20], Extreme Sexual Dimorphism [1], and “or Learned Prayers” to the list of optional advantages.
Disadvantages: Add a required -10 points in any of the disadvantages listed under Morals, above and reduce first -20 points disadvantages to -10.

Skills: Add Whip (A) DX+3 [12]-16 to Option 1 and Whip (A) DX+2 [8]-15 to Option 2 of the optional melee skill packages. • Replace Strategy with Sex Appeal (A) HT [1]-11 under secondary skills. • Add Lariat (A) DX [1]-13 to the list of ranged weapon skills available. • Remove Seamanship from the optional background skills and add Body Language (A) Per-1 [1]-9; Breath Control (H) HT-2 [1]-10; Erotic Art (A) DX [1]-12.

Milä hears prayers concerned with air, the sky, weather, love, desire, and the night. The majority of the miracles she grants involve emotional manipulation, but her priests are known for otherworldly airy and shadowy powers.
